Jay & Meridel on President Trump's Historic Speech

On 16 March 2016, Donald Trump stated that he would move the Embassy to Jerusalem and people cheered.

When President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem to be Israel's capital on Wednesday, 06 December 2017, the reaction worldwide was extreme! From Extreme Joy to Extreme Hatred!

Those who read the Bible were elated as President Trump became the first president to declare what Believers have always known. For others, who are are not fully informed, or just filled with hatred for the Jewish people, there were protests and calls for jihad and attacks against the state of Israel.

Jay and Meridel Rawlings, who are co-founders of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem were thrilled when the news broke. Below is an excerpt from President Trump's historic speech followed by a commentary on these extraordinary events by Jay and Meridel.

Please join us and all believers world-wide in prayer for President Donald Trump and his family. Join us also in sincere prayer that Jerusalem and the tiny state of Israel will know "Peace in Our Time"

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem~Israel's Eternal Capital

Update on Jay Rawlings from Share Tzdek Hospital

Jay, In Prayer~Day of His Surgery
Shalom Dear Prayer Warriors

Love from Share Tzdek Hospital in Jerusalem.

Thanks for your prayers

One week ago I had open heart surgery to achieve mitral valve reconstruction, an ablation and tweaking the inside of the atrial fibrillation area.

I did not need external bypass surgery in any of my coronary arteries thank God.

Hopefully, I will go home soon. I will return to the hospital three times a week for physio and am looking at from three to six months of rehabilitation.

I will have to learn to take things much slower.

Thanks again for answered prayer.
Blessings and prayers for you all.

Love in The Holy One of Israel

Urgent Prayer Request & Update on Jay Rawlings

Son Josh with Jay in Hospital
Dearest Friends and Partners

I, Meridel, on behalf of my sons and their families am writing to bring you the latest news about my husband and their father John Rawlings.

Those of you who have been following his progress know that he was admitted to Share Tszdek (Gates of Righteousness) hospital in Jerusalem last December 2016. At that time he underwent extensive tests; three times his heart was stopped and re-started to establish a regular beat.

In February, thanks to the generosity of my birth family in Canada he received a much needed C-PAP machine to aid his increasingly labored breathing.

Last week he was readmitted to the hospital to be examined again by cardiologists. After going through various examinations and a 4th ‘inversion’ procedure because he was missing the ‘sinus’ beat in his heart, he was not improved. He is struggling to breathe due to the increasing fluid on his lungs. Today after more examinations, it has been decided that he needs open heart surgery this week due to valve damage. At the same time the Drs plan to also do an ‘ablation’ to create a steady beat in his heart.

We are so grateful for the optimal care he is receiving here in Israel. The level of professionalism is exceptional, and leaves us humbled and very grateful. I do not have the exact date for Jay’s open heart surgery, because the hospital is still working to schedule him in at the earliest possible date.

Upon leaving the hospital, my eyes were drawn to this scripture mounted on the wall in large silver letters in English and Hebrew. It is the prayer of our hearts!

Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed:
Save me, and I shall be saved.
For You are my praise...Jeremiah 17:14*

Kindly raise prayer for your friend and our beloved, John Victor Rawlings.

Sincerely,
Meridel Rawlings, family and team.

* Jeremiah 17:14: save, yasha Strongs # 3467. To rescue, save, defend; to free, preserve, avenge, deliver, help. The verb found more than 200 times in the Old Testament (Torah, & Tanach), is a one-word description of God’s response to the needs of humanity.
* Yeshua means, He shall save, Matthew 1:21 is taken from this root yasha. The original thought of yasha was to release, to open wide.

In jener Nacht starb Jay!

Urgent Prayer Request!

Dear Friends and Partners
I, Meridel Rawlings am writing on behalf of Jay.

Five days ago he was admitted to the cardiac unit in Jerusalem’s  Share Tzedek  Hospital. (Gates of  Righteousness) He is under supervision and intensive testing to discern the cause of his rapid heart beat, shortness of breath and fluid in his lungs. He is taking medication to slow his heart.

Tomorrow he will  under go a “shock” to the heart. The Doctors will stop it and start it again, hoping to regulate the heart beat. We need your prayers at this critical time~my sons and I thank You and we know You are there for us.

Jay and I hate having to ask for financial help. We find it very humbling, and in a perfect world we could just keep working and say nothing about expenses. But that is not the case. Stress is part of the load here, and financials are very close to the top of the list. If there is any way you could send a donation to help us keep  Jerusalem Vistas/Israel Vision going at this very critical time, we would be most grateful. (Directions for giving are at the end of this message.)

2016 was an action packed year and there is reason to be a little weary. Upon return to Israel we have experienced one hit after the other on so many levels. It feels like an onslaught, but now, with Jay taken out of commission, we know we are under direct attack. We are being inundated with regulations and hidden fees. The office is currently squeezed into the living room of our home. At this time we have had to cancel everything, but  try to carry on as best we can under the circumstances. We are being tried and tested.

Pray with us for Jay’s complete recovery Please. Pray also that he will allow himself to rest and heal when he returns home from the hospital. We Need Him in order to carry on with the Kingdom work.

Thank You All for remembering Israel in your prayers. We sense that things are changing for the better. Remember this is “a land the LORD our God cares for~always”...Deuteronomy 11:11-12
This comes with love from our home to yours...

Every blessing at this Hanukah and Christmas time,
Meridel Rawlings, sons and team

~ 10 ~ Do Not Covet

In the past months we have posted the series "The Ten Commandments" (See Below for Links). Today we give you the final, and only "thought" commandment of "Do Not Covet".

Of all the 613 commandments, and in fact the entire Bible, this is the only one that regulates thought! The reason for this commandment is that when one holds "thoughts of coveting" this will almost always lead to the breaking others. Why is this so?

According to the Hebrew, coveting refers to "wanting to the point of seeking to take away and own" what belongs to another person. It is this type of "coveting thought" that leads to commission of more serious crimes.

There is only one Commandment that prohibits a thought, and it is this: "Do not covet." Why does the Bible, which is preoccupied with behavior, legislate a thought? Because to covet, to want what belongs to someone else, is the root of the preceding four commandments and often leads to evil. Before someone murders, steals, lies, or commits adultery, the desire to take what is rightly someone else's~coveting usually comes first...Dennis Prager

We hope you have enjoyed listening to the Ten Commandments. In these fast moving times, while many lament the number of bad things that appear on the internet, we hope this thought-provoking series will provide one example of how the "Word of the Lord" can be shared around the world.

~ 9~ Do Not Bear False Witness

Truth Telling~is it really that hard to tell the truth? I'm referring to every day, all the time~not just in a court of law.

How many times have we told "little white lies" and justified them? Do we even think about these types of lies as breaking a commandment? Do we consider that "always" telling the truth is what it is all about?

The most important ingredient to building a moral society is truth, both inside and outside a courtroom. The prohibition against "bearing false witness" does not only demand that truth reigns supreme in a trial, but that it is a societal value throughout the culture. Bad things happen when people believe lies. With truth, we can build a decent society. Without it, even the other nine commandments won't help...Dennis Prager

~ 8 ~ Do Not Steal

With all the bad things going on in the world, this is a good time to re-visit the Word of the Lord!

The eighth commandment, "Do Not Steal" covers far more than just taking a sweet from the candy store. There are many types of stealing~all of which cause damage. For those of you who have ever had their home burgled, you will probably never forget the feelings of violation. What about the other types of stealing? How do we recover from that? Do we ever truly get over it?

There is one commandment that, if followed by all of humanity, would instantly create a peaceful world: "Do Not Steal"...the Eighth Commandment, implicitly prohibits murder (stealing a life), slavery (stealing a person's freedom), adultery (stealing a spouse), humiliation (stealing dignity), and so many other sins laid out in the Bible. If there is one Commandment that summarizes the other nine, this one is it...Dennis Prager

As we listen to this short lesson, think about this single commandment, and consider the good that obeying it could create in this world...

Prayers Work! Our Call To Prayer is Answered...

Earlier this week we sent out an appeal for a "Call to Prayer". Your response was immediate and very encouraging.

On Tuesday night, we all went to sleep with prayers on our lips:

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed,
let not mine enemies triumph over me...Psalm 25:2

When we woke up this morning, it was with great joy that we learned of Benjamin Netanyahu's decisive victory over those who would see Israel broken into pieces.  Praise God!

This Land shall not be sold for ever: for the Land is Mine,
for ye are strangers and sojourners with Me...Leviticus 25:23

On the way back from a meeting, Jay, Meridel and David stopped at a point overlooking Jerusalem. They were discussing the results of the election and decided to film a few words.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God:
the powers that be are ordained of God...Romans 13:1

Thanks to all who joined us in prayer. Most of all we give thanks to the Lord our God for his goodness and mercy.

A Call To Prayer

Shalom Dear Friends,
Fear not, thou worm Jacob...
I will make you a threshing instrument with teeth...Isaiah 41: 14,15.

We are calling for you to raise prayer and alert all who will listen to do the same. Israel’s National Election is in two days, on 17 March 2015.

We know there is a huge battle for Israel’s future looming on the horizon, even with dire consequences. During this election campaign, we are shocked at the river of vitriol against Prime Minister Benjamin (Bibi) Netanyahu and his wife Sarah. The volume and persistence of pernicious lies, against them both tells us a hidden truth. Dark powers are at work to defeat this decent leader and his Likud party. Men with ulterior motives and questionable scruples vie for leadership over Israel’s future security and national interests.

“Anyone but Bibi” has been the cry of center-left parties during the entire campaign.

Why the hate? He is a seasoned man who has guided us through many wars. He was one of the first world leaders to foresee the dangers of the Arab Spring and the rise of Islamic State. He is the lone world leader who courageously gave a clarion call to the US Senate and Congress, indeed, the world, on Iran’s nuclear armament program.

"Derision" is what awaited Netanyahu upon returning home to Israel, after warning the world of the danger of a ‘bad deal’ with Iran. “If we don’t act, the Islamic State~ISIS will be replaced by the Republic of Iran, as the world’s foremost Islamic authority.’” His words were prophetic and not a hollow threat.

Yet...the strange situation is that yesterday, 49% of polled Israeli’s want Benjamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister, but only 29% want the Likud party. Why? Because in Israeli elections the people always want two things; security and economic stability.

All the pollsters show that Likud~Benjamin Netanyahu’s Party, with twenty-two seats seriously trails behind the Zionist Union Party, with twenty-five seats, headed by Leftist Leaders Isaac Herzog and Zippi Livni. Yet out of one hundred-twenty seats, the numbers of the two largest parties are extremely low, nine other parties make up the choices, this creates a fractured rulership.

If the Zionist Union wins, in order to form a majority government of sixty-one seats they will have to join with smaller parties, such as the Arab Bloc, with twelve seats and other extreme left parties. This will seriously endanger the national security of Israel. The leftists have stated that they are ready to capitulate; “give land” for empty peace deals with the Palestinians and pander to Obama with his Iranian nuclear deal aspirations.

Because of the slick "misinformation" filling our news channels, Bibi’s party is blamed for the mistakes of others parties. The Left claims the economy is terrible; this is erroneous. But most Israelis do not know that in the last government, every Likud portfolio in the Cabinet brought us success these past three years. Israel’s unique political system forces the creation of coalitions in order to rule. This means that when a cabinet is formed by the winning party, not all portfolios are controlled by the prime minister’s party. Some are in the hands of coalition partners. In the last government, those who headed finance and housing made bad choices and Bibi’s party was blamed. This shows the weakness of the electoral system.

If one looks at every single ministry that the Likud held in the last government, they will see that revolutionary reforms were passed in all their ministries! To fight rising prices, Likud, led by Bibi brought competition to the cellphone cartels, airlines, internet and television industries. He has encouraged competition in all areas, breaking a centralized economy. If given the opportunity, he also plans to reform Israel’s antiquated parliamentary system to help bring some normalcy to our nation.

Prayer changes things! Please join us in prayer. 20% of our population are still “undecided” as for whom to vote. Confusion is rife; pray for all eligible voters to "desire" to do so. The Spirit of God can "impress" them in the voting booths to “choose life”!

Believe with us for the health and future of a unified Israel.

In the Canadian National elections in 2011, we were in Canada and along with countless others, we asked Christians to pray that as the voters stood in the ballot booths, the Holy Spirit would lead them. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was elected with a landslide majority for the first time, after being saddled for years with a minority government. Today Canada stands as the free world’s best friend to Israel. Prayer changes things! May the Almighty have mercy upon Israel at this time.

Throughout history, the Jewish people have miscalculated; which caused serious, even deadly results. For example, they did not listen to Jeremiah; which, that resulted in seventy years of captivity and the tragic destruction of Jerusalem. Then five hundred years later many did not listen to Jesus, resulting in the destruction of Jerusalem and the global dispersion of the Jews for two thousand years. Most chose not to listen to a modern day "prophet", Ze’ev Jabotinsky who warned them to flee the coming Nazi destruction and go to their ancient homeland. As you know, six million were doomed in the Holocaust. An Israeli historian has already warned, that of the three million Jews living in Europe, one million will take their businesses and leave due to anti-Semitism. This could ruin Europe. Israel is created as the Jewish homeland for all Jews world-wide.

As former Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin once said, “When someone says they are going to kill you...just believe them.”

Benjamin Netanyahu has spiritual discernment. He convenes a weekly Bible study in his official residence. The wisdom and understanding he gleans from the Holy Scriptures is irreplaceable. If world leaders studied the Eternal words of the Torah and the Prophets, our world would be a different place. Good examples of godly leaders are German Chancellor Angela Merkel, UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to name a few.

It is possible for the Lord to change hearts and minds. The Bible says,

The heart of the king is in the hand of the Lord...
and he turns it where ever He wishes...Proverbs 21:1

The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man or woman avails much...James 5:17

We are so grateful for the privilege of voting here. Join us in prayer, that all Israelis will desire to vote and to ‘choose life.’ Please Pray!

Thanks and God Bless you.
Jay and Meridel, sons and team at Israel Vision.

An Answer to Prayer...

Almost one month ago we asked for prayer for our dear friend Irene, who had been diagnosed with an aneurysm in her left eye.

Needless to say, these past weeks have been filled with prayer (and worry!)

Several days ago, Irene traveled to Jerusalem, hopeful that the doctors would be able to do a laser procedure. When she arrived, the news was better than all had hoped for!

The aneurysm appears to have not only stopped growing, but it has in fact regressed! This morning, Irene was able returned home without having any invasive procedures done!

Although the danger is not over, for all of us, this is a miraculous answer to prayer. We ask you to please keep Irene in your prayers, so that she will see a complete healing!

Please Pray for PM Benjamin Netanyahu...

PM Netanyahu at the Western Wall
Just one day before leaving for the USA, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood before the Western Wall in Jerusalem. What his prayer was, we can only guess. This trip, is of vital importance and every word and action will be watched and heavily criticized.

As he was preparing to board the plane for America the PM stated:

A few days before the Fast of Esther, I am leaving for Washington on a fateful, even historic mission. I feel that I am the emissary of all Israelis, even those who disagree with me, of the entire Jewish People. I am deeply and genuinely concerned for the security of all Israelis, for the fate of the nation, and for the fate of our people and I will do my utmost to insure our future.

Just a short while ago the Prime Minister was warmly received by AIPAC. As always he was eloquent and to the point, however, before he left the podium the naysayers were on the attack. Sadly, some of the most vile critics are right here in Israel.

We ask all of you to Please, Pray for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as he prepares to speak before the US Congress. The events unfolding on the world theater are becoming more, and more dangerous, especially to little Israel on the front line.

Pray that the Lord will guide the words of our PM and open the ears of those who until now have refused to hear.

Urgent Prayer Request!

A longtime, close friend of ours in Israel is in urgent need of prayer.

Irene has been diagnosed with an aneurysm in her left eye and her doctors fear she will lose her eyesight.

Doctors are unable to operate at this time, but they are hopeful that a new course of medications will be without side effects, and subsequently allow them to perform the necessary surgery to repair the aneurysm.

The operation is very delicate and risky. Our dear friend is very concerned, as are we all.

Irene believes strongly in the power of prayer. Earlier today as we spoke with her, she remarked:

"Tell the world~I need all the Prayers I can get!"

Please, Pray for Irene...

We are asking for prayers to insure that the current treatment will be effective, and that the doctors will soon be able to perform the vital surgery to save her vision.

Please Join Us in Prayer for the Kidnapped Teens...

All Israel has come together in prayers for the safe return of the three teenagers who were kidnapped this past week. Everyone has an opinion (or three) and the papers are full of theories, but the fact is we still have no idea where they may be.

What is known is that the two sixteen year olds, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel, were on the way home from their yeshiva around 22:00pm. An Israeli reported that he stopped for them, but was not going thier way. He left them at the hitchhiking post in Kfar Etzion. Nineteen year old Eyal Yifrach met up with them there, and it is believed the three teens either got into a vehicle willingly, or were forced.

The Jewish Press reported that the car used for the abduction was found, along with some personal belongings of the boys. The cell phone of one of the teens was also found.

To Clarify~Those Claiming the Teens Should Not Have Taken a Ride: The bus system in Israel stinks! Even in the cities it is a nightmare and service does not run late in the evenings. In Israel there is a 115% tax on cars, fuel costs average $6.50 per gallon, and don't even ask about insurance and safety tests! Owning a car is like taking a mortgage in North America...The place where the boys were waiting for a ride is a common "trempiadot"~a site where people wait to catch a ride. For most, this is the only way to get around.

What Can We Do to Help?
Those who are believers know the power of prayer and this is something eveyone world wide is capable of. Indeed, all Israel has been praying constantly. We ask that you include the three teens in your prayers. In addition, please pray for the safety of those who are searching day and night to "Bring Our Boys Home"

The Chief Rabbis in Israel have asked that as we light candles on Shabbat, we light one extra candle for the teens and recite Psalm 83, 121, 130 and 142. They are printed below for your convenience. The names to recite are:

Eyal ben Iris Teshurah (Eyal Yifrach~19)
Gilad Michael ben Bat Galim (Gilad Shaar~16)
Yaakov Naftali ben Rachel Devorah (Naftali Frenkel~16)

Whatever your prayers, and whenever you pray, please keep the three boys in mind. God answers prayer, and he is not fussy about form or style~only that it comes from the heart!

Two popular Israeli singers immediately released a song, Bring Back Our Boys. In it are scenes from the prayers held at the Kotel (Western Wall), Judaism's Holiest site, and across Israel. Please Join Us And Pray...

For Those Who Wish to Pray Psalms:

Psalm 83
1 Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.

Psalm 121
1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Psalm 130
1 Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.
2 Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
3 If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
7 Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Psalm 142
1 I cried unto the Lord with my voice; with my voice unto the Lord did I make my supplication.
2 I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.
3 When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked have they privily laid a snare for me.
4 I looked on my right hand, and beheld, but there was no man that would know me: refuge failed me; no man cared for my soul.
5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.
6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.
7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.

Praying At The Kotel

Our crew have been busy filming around the country for many weeks now. At the end of June, while in the Old City of Jerusalem they stopped by the Kotel (Wailing Wall or Western Wall) and spotted a Minyan at their Shacharit (morning) prayer service next to the Wall. The readings take place on Shabbats, Mondays, and Thursdays. On Jewish holidays, Rosh Chodesh, and fast days, special sections connected to the day are read. The beautiful, elaborately decorated covers that "house" the Torah Scrolls are very typical of Sephardi communities~if you are able to see one at close quarters it will take your breath away .

In this brief clip, the men have on their Tefillin and Tallit and raise the Torah Scroll (Hagbahah) before the Haftorah (selections from the books of Nevi'im "Prophets" of the Hebrew Bible "Tanach"). Of course, customs vary around the world, from one community to another, but from the sages we learn the following:

“When the Torah scroll (is about to be read) he rolls out the scroll to show three columns, raises it and shows the people standing to his right and to his left, and then turns it forward and backwards, for it is a mitzvah for all the men and women to see the writing and say while bowing, V’zot HaTorah:

"And this is the Torah which Moses placed before the Children of Israel’...Deuteronomy 4:44; and
"The Torah of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul"...Psalm 19:8*

*The second verse is (generally) no longer said. The information provided is for "general knowledge". The customs vary depending on many things, such as residing inside Israel or in other countries, and the traditions of the community, and strictness of observance.

If you come to Jerusalem, we encourage you to pay a visit to the Kotel and observe the various Minyans at prayer. Meanwhile as we enter into the weekend and the Holiest day of the week~Saturday (Shabbat) for Jews, and Sunday for Christian believers~here is a short clip to set the mood...Shabbat Shalom to All!
