Over the years Israel has been under constant attack from her neighbours. In the beginning there was little or no international assistance as they struggled to establish their country.
Agriculture was the first and foremost industry~to feed the people. Of equal importance was the need for defense.
In the short video below we take a look at some of the amazing inventions to come out of this small country.
Their successes range from Blind Empowerment for the vision impaired to Exo-Skeleton for those unable to walk, to allowing doctors to "see" inside the human body for diagnosis, and a "3D printed heart". Israel has truly excelled in the medical fields.
Out of necessity came a Defense Force with state of the art equipment. To defend her citizens Israel created Iron Dome to thwart rocket attacks and Drone Dome to protect airports against drone attacks. Most recently Israel launched a small craft named Beresheetinto space with the goals of promoting careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics,
as well as landing its magnetometer, digital time capsule, and laser
retroreflector on the Moon.
This tiny country, constantly under attack from Day One has forged ahead with innovations to help and protect the citizens of the world!
Israel has risen from her beginnings as a struggling farming nation to be one of the top entrepreneurial nations in the world~and shall continue to do so!
There is No Limit to the Inventive and Entrepreneurial Spirit of the Israeli People!
The 30th~31st of January 2018, is the New Year of the Trees here in Israel. In Hebrew it is called, Tu B'Shvat. So what, you may say.
On Wednesday, 31 January 2018, we were able to experiencing a once in a life time happening right here inside of Israel! On this night, over Jerusalem, there arose a Super Moon, A Blue Moon, A Blood Moon and a Lunar Eclipse moon.
It is the biggest lunar spectacle we will ever witness and it can't be a coincidence that this moon rose over Israel in celebration tonight. The last time it happened was in 1866.
* A blue moon appears to be an extra full moon. * A lunar eclipse is rarer, it was visible here as it rose above Jerusalem. * A blood moon takes place when sun light reflects from the setting moon through the earth's atmosphere. It causes the moon to appear blood red. The Book of Revelation mentions the blood moon as a sign.
The amazing thing is this entire lunar event looks more spectacular to the naked eye! The moon tonight is also a super moon because it is approaching closer to the earth than usual. As mentioned, the last time we had the five moons ALL at once was 150 years ago.
It is no accident that this amazing phenomenon is taking place on Israel's lunar holiday of the trees. God is speaking clearly.
We gathered at the synagogue tonight to celebrate, sing songs and taste a very colorful selection of fruit and nuts. What a perfect time to say "thank you" for the many blessings brought to us by the trees. I am also thinking of how they faithfully cleanse the air we breathe and provide us with fresh oxygen day and night.
Modern Israel has planted 250 million trees; creating a carbon foot print offset much larger than many nations much greater in size than tiny Israel!
One day Jay said: "Meridel, I want to you to promise me something" "Well, what is it?" I asked. "Promise me." he said. "What is it?" "Promise me that you won't plant any more tree in our garden!" Without a moments hesitation I replied, "I couldn't possibly make such a promise!"
Since 1976 I have encouraged my husband and sons to plant 537 trees in Israel. (14 in our small garden) But friends, that is not why I am writing...It is time to favour Zion! The Word clearly shows this.
I am zealous for Jerusalem And for Zion with great zeal. I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease; For I was a little angry, and they helped, but with evil intent.
I am returning to Jeusalem with mercy; My house shall be built in it, says the LORD of hosts...Zechariah 1:15, 16a.
Every Blessing to you and your family~Happy New Year of the Trees,
On 16 March 2016, Donald Trump stated that he would move the Embassy to Jerusalem and people cheered.
When President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem to be Israel's capital on Wednesday, 06 December 2017, the reaction worldwide was extreme! From Extreme Joy to Extreme Hatred!
Those who read the Bible were elated as President Trump became the first president to declare what Believers have always known. For others, who are are not fully informed, or just filled with hatred for the Jewish people, there were protests and calls for jihad and attacks against the state of Israel.
Jay and Meridel Rawlings, who are co-founders of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem were thrilled when the news broke. Below is an excerpt from President Trump's historic speech followed by a commentary on these extraordinary events by Jay and Meridel.
Please join us and all believers world-wide in prayer for President Donald Trump and his family. Join us also in sincere prayer that Jerusalem and the tiny state of Israel will know "Peace in Our Time".
Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem~Israel's Eternal Capital
Israel has very little rainfall. In fact, one of the first things many people notice is that the country has a light brown or dusty look much of the time.
It seems that we have only two seasons. The hot, dry summer where one longs for just one cloud in the sky, and the pouring rains.
December to February are generally the time for the heaviest rainfall. Although it is not entirely unusual to see light rains both before and after.
The months from March to November are virtually rain-free. Last night we had a good rain. In fact, it was the first big downpour, complete with flooding streets and traffic jams, that I was caught in.
While a good soaking is good for the earth, many of us are not so thrilled at the idea of becoming waterlogged.
In Israel, however, there is a feeling of relief and joy when the rains do finally come. The air becomes fresh as the months of dry sandy dust are washed away. The trees glow green and every part of the land seems brighter. And yes, if you look around at the people running for cover the majority are smiling and laughing at getting wet.
The Bible has many references to the life giving rain...Just do a search for "rain & bible" or any similar combination.
We in Israel truly do give thanks for the rain, for it is very good!
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
...Isaiah 55:10-11...New King James Version (NKJV)
The World Forgets that We Also Have Arabs, Druze and Christians in the Israeli Army
Transcript:
I am an Arab. I am a Muslim. And I love my country. In fact, I’m
prepared to die for it. Which is why I serve in its army.
I don’t have to do this. I want to do this. Because my country is a
special place, unlike any other.
Free. Diverse. Vibrant.
Yet, other countries~countries not so free, not so diverse~call for my
country’s complete destruction. The moment my country lets its guard
down, it will be destroyed.
My country is Israel. I grew up and still live in a small village named after my family’s
Bedouin Arab tribe. Our roots in this land run deep.
In 1948, when Arab armies invaded the new state of Israel, my family
thought of leaving our village. Some of them did. But when the Jews’
leaders heard that, they implored us to remain. “This is our country,
for both Arabs and Jews,” they said. “Stay, and we will work together to
build it.” My family stayed. My parents were born here, made their lives here,
started their own family here~in Israel.
In 2002, I was a teenager. It was a violent time. Palestinian suicide
bombers were blowing up Israeli civilians~a danger to Arabs and Jews
alike. Israeli troops entered to the West Bank to stop them at their
source. As a result, many Palestinians were killed.
I was torn. Whose side was I on, I thought: Israel’s or the
Palestinians’? Is it possible to be an Arab and an Israeli? The question
became even more difficult when I saw men from my own village wearing
the uniform of the Israeli army.
Only Jews are required to serve in the
military. No one forced these Arab men to join; they chose to. “Why?” I
asked them.
“Our home is here, in Israel,” they said. “Our home is under attack. Our
neighbors in this home are Jews. They are being attacked. We fight
together.”
Still, I struggled.
I went to high school in Nazareth. There, unlike the village where I
grew up, most of the Arab students identified as Palestinians even
though they are citizens of Israel.
Some of the students~my friends~hated Israel. They couldn’t understand
me. “You’re a Palestinian”, they said, “so you must hate Israel.” When I
said that I didn’t, that we had far more freedom and opportunity than
Arabs anywhere in the Middle East, they called me a traitor.
After high school, I went on to study electrical engineering at
Technion, a leading Israeli university. During my first semester, heavy
rocket fire from Gaza forced Israel to launch a counterattack.
Not long after the war began, I witnessed a group of Arab-Israeli
students expressing their solidarity with Hamas, the Palestinian terror
organization that controls Gaza and is committed to Israel’s violent
destruction.
Did these students not understand that those rockets could just as
easily be aimed at them? Hamas didn’t care who they killed as long as
they landed inside the borders of Israel. Had my fellow Arab students
forgotten that Israel had left Gaza a few years before? That there
wasn’t a single Israeli living there?
That day, I dropped out of school to join the Israeli army, the IDF. A
few months later, I was a soldier in the Israeli Air Force. After months
of training, I was assigned to the Search & Rescue Helicopter Unit. Our job was to save lives. We never concerned ourselves with the
identity of the people who needed our help. We rescued Syrian civilians
wounded in their country’s civil war, Palestinian children from Gaza
requiring urgent medical care, and countless Israelis of every religious
and ethnic background. A life~whether it is Muslim or Jewish,
Palestinian or Israeli~is a life.
On a base of 6,000 soldiers, I was the only Bedouin. But it didn’t
matter. The only thing that mattered was keeping Israel~our home~safe.
We came from all parts of the country and from many parts of the world.
We were every shade of skin color. Our shared goal created a deep bond.
Today, I am a student at Haifa University. Half of the students are
Arab. More than once, I have seen the Palestinian flag being waved at a
rally or protest on campus. In Israel, you can do this because, whether
you are a Jew or an Arab, you are free.
What more do you need to know? I am Mohammad Kabiya for Prager University.
