Dear Special Friends and Valued Partners,

Photo Credit: Janine Robinson on Unsplash
We are glad to report that Israel is still a leading nation worldwide in combating the COVID-19 pandemic. But the Israeli government is NOW warning us to prepare for a resurgence of the pest. What does that mean?

What is God saying through all this as we watch the absolute chaos gripping the nations in addition to the effect of the virus. Is there a glimmer of hope?  I believe there is? In spite of the signs around us being very grave.

We, at Jerusalem Vistas are in a financial crisis since giving during the last months of the pandemic has sharply fallen off. We have urgent back bills and it is very humbling to tell you that we have had to lay off our faithful bookkeeper of sixteen years. Legally we have to pay her by July 31st the back salary that she has not received totaling CDN$ 35,000. Your help to meet this need will be an answer to all our prayers. Thank you for doing your part.

PS: Here is some good news. Our sons are stepping in to eventually take over from Meridel and myself. Our Israeli accountant/auditor is reducing his costs to us and strongly recommends that “Jerusalem Vistas continues on as you are doing a very important work for Israel.” He said we stand in a unique place blessing the nation as media pioneers.

Let’s remember that Yeshua~Jesus spoke about the events going on all around us, TODAY!  When asked by His closest friends and followers, “When will you return, and what will be the sign of your coming?” He told them to watch for specific signs. I see them as PHYSICAL SIGNS, SPIRITUAL SIGNS AND MIXED SPIRITUAL / PHYSICAL SIGNS. See if you can categorise them below from His list.

1] First He said, “Let no one deceive you.  Many will come in My name saying ‘I am the Messiah.” Some will be deceived.” But do not believe them.”
2] Next He said, “You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but don’t be worried. For all these things will come to pass but the end is not yet.”
3] Then He said, “Nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom.”
4] Next He said “that there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes all over the earth.”
5] This, He said,” is the beginning of sorrows.”
6] Next, He said, “They will deliver you up to ridicule and even kill you. You will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake and then,
7] Many will be offended, will hate one another and betray one another.”
8] Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive multitudes; and,
9] Because lawlessness will abound the love of many will grow cold.”
10] But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
11] “And this Gospel shall be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations and then the end will come”...Matthew 24:4-9

During this epidemic we all applauded the outstanding dedication of the first line health care workers and all those in society who reached out, often at their peril, to preserve the lives of the victims and continued doing jobs keeping the rest of us alive. That to me is a clear way of preaching the Good News showing man’s humanity to man and “loving your neighbour as yourself.”

But how soon were our eyes turned to see the rioting, looting, and violence of those who became lawless. Yes, we are all disgusted and sickened at the unjust and unnecessary death of George Floyd. While his brother, at his memorial asked, pleaded and almost begged for the looting, rioting, maiming and killing to stop lest the memory of his brother be defiled. Lawlessness ruled and still does. How sad. How tragic. Where is humility in all of this?

This very difficult yet needed quality of humbling ourselves was placed before us all during the course of the virus in our nations. Here is what an anonymous writer posted on Facebook in Hebrew that was rendered like a song of humility or a lament.

“ We have taken nature for granted; and now we are not allowed to leave the house.
We have disrespected our parents; now we cannot see them in person.
We have treated our teachers with content; and now educational institutions are closed.
We have squandered our money on things we don’t need; and now shopping malls have shut down.
We have more cars than we need; and now the roads are empty.
We have ceased to really connect with others; and now are in isolation.
We have placed an importance on external beauty; and now our faces are covered with masks.
We can’t keep on as if there is no tomorrow; because if we do tomorrow will not come.
We all need to pause and take account of our lives; because the gift of this virus is, that we have received a second chance.”

In closing, during the lockdown here in our home, Meridel heard the Still Small Voice ask her, “can you not watch with Me one hour?” In response she fasted on water for twelve days.
To me this was a very sincere and challenging way to humble one’s self and since that time we have received some very powerful answers to prayer.  I say this to encourage you in your walk with the Lord.

Finally, we see a breakthrough with the average Palestinian citizens who are defying the PLO/Fatah leadership of President Abbas.  He has rejected the Israeli annexation of the Jordan Valley, but 90% of his citizens are saying, “Yes” we want  to live under Israeli sovereignty in place of our corrupt leadership. This is a HUGE glimmer of hope never seen before. Please keep praying for the “Peace of Jerusalem.”  He is answering prayer.
We send you our love and prayers and very best wishes,
Jay, Meridel and sons and team.

Dance for Kindness Flash Mob at the Old Station in Jerusalem

Dancing has a way of breaking down barriers of bitterness and hatred, ignorance and isolation. 120 nations joined together via satellite with Jerusalem for a Flash Mob to “dance for kindness.”

For the first time ever Gaza joined in. The common thread that stitched these inspiring dancers from across the globe to come together was the character quality of Kindness.

Jerusalem Vistas was called by Adi, the choreographer, and our daughter in law.

“Jay, please come~We must capture this very special event on film and show it to everyone!”

Daniel headed the film crew as she led 500 Israelis of all ages in a dance celebrating...yes KINDNESS!

They danced to the song ‘Unity’ written and performed by the Solomon Brother’s of Jerusalem. The lyrics go like this...
There is a shining light in everyone of us...
Every person in this world is a diamond in the rough.
One soul, one goal, one love, Unity!
Join us. One forever!

Remembering Israel's "Tentifada"~Part II

On 15 January 2018, we re-posted part I of a film on the 2011 "Tentifada" Protests that took part across Israel.

David and Daniel Rawlings traveled from Be'er Sheva to Tel Aviv and on to Kiryat Shmona to speak to Israelis of all ages who had set up an impromptu protest against the government.

In locations from north to south there were tents, lawn chairs, snacks, drinks and Bar-B-Qs set up. There were many complaints. One of the biggest was the fact that rents were so intolerably high and wages so intolerably low.

In Part 1~David spoke to protesters in Be'er Sheva and Tel Aviv. In Part II the traveled to Kiryat Shmona and back to Jerusalem. The overall mood was surprisingly mellow. Yes, people were frustrated~they camped out in protest, but they did it peacefully!

Israel is not a perfect country, her citizens are not shy about making their frustration known, but for the most part they remain steadfast and loyal.

ICEJ's Original Founders Stand Shoulder to Shoulder with Israel

In 2017 President Donald Trump Recognized Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. Even though this has always been the case, the "world embassies" have long refused to acknowledge this fact.

One embassy would be different from all the others. ICEJ (International Christian Embassy Jerusalem) was founded by a group of faithful lovers of Israel to show the world that they did believe in Israel and Jerusalem as her eternal capitol.

Jay and Meridel Rawlings were a part of this undertaking more than thirty-five years ago. As they have made their mark in media, they decided that this great event should be documented for all to remember.

Below is a short clip of the original founders remembering this momentous occasion

General Allenby in Jerusalem~100 Years On

Jay and Meridel Rawlings Inside Jaffa Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem
Exactly one hundred years ago, on 11 December,1917, General Edmund Allenby, entered Jerusalem on foot.

Demonstrating a true understanding of the symbolic sensitivity of Jerusalem to its residents and also the strong religious feelings towards the Holy City the world over, General Allenby, elected to make his entrance through Jaffa Gate on foot, with his staff marching after him.

From there he walked to the entrance of  the Jerusalem Citadel (known as Tower of David), where he met the heads of the different communities in the city.

General Allenby's entry was in marked contrast to 1898, when the walls were thoughtlessly cut through to allow Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany and his ostentatious entourage to ride through with pomp and ceremony.

On 11 December 2017, a symbolic re-enactment of that historic day took place at Jaffa Gate, of the Old City of Jerusalem. Jay and Meridel Rawlings join the hosts of people including Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, and the great, great nephew of General Edmund Allenby, Viscount Henry J. H. Allenby. All were dressed in period costumes and a festive spirit prevailed.

Christmas Around the World

* This Post Is Pinned to the Top of Our Blog Until 31 December. Scroll Down For New Posts...
In past years we have tried to post poems and songs about Christmas from around the world. We all have our own traditions, songs and celebrations but many times we forget that our differences can actually bring us together~as in the world wide acknowledgment of the birth of Christ.

While there are those who are trying to erase "Christmas" by claiming it is "not inclusive", we would like to demonstrate that Christmas does include everyone. All can enjoy the gift of beauty, holiness and peace that is the Christmas season~a gift that is freely given.

Living in the middle-east, particularly in Jerusalem, one sees on a daily basis, the melting pot of language, thought, music and traditions. Those who celebrate strictly "western" customs may enjoy seeing worship from other countries.

We invite you to visit our blog daily for the next week, and share in the joy of the nations during this holy Christmas Season. Here is our video-card to all of our friends and family...

A Very Merry Christmas to You All from Our Family at Jerusalem Vistas / Israel Vision!

Jay & Meridel on President Trump's Historic Speech

On 16 March 2016, Donald Trump stated that he would move the Embassy to Jerusalem and people cheered.

When President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem to be Israel's capital on Wednesday, 06 December 2017, the reaction worldwide was extreme! From Extreme Joy to Extreme Hatred!

Those who read the Bible were elated as President Trump became the first president to declare what Believers have always known. For others, who are are not fully informed, or just filled with hatred for the Jewish people, there were protests and calls for jihad and attacks against the state of Israel.

Jay and Meridel Rawlings, who are co-founders of the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem were thrilled when the news broke. Below is an excerpt from President Trump's historic speech followed by a commentary on these extraordinary events by Jay and Meridel.

Please join us and all believers world-wide in prayer for President Donald Trump and his family. Join us also in sincere prayer that Jerusalem and the tiny state of Israel will know "Peace in Our Time"

Terrorists Murder and Riot in The Holy Land

When Will it Stop?

On Friday, 21 July 2017, a family sat down to the Shabbat table to celebrate the Sabbath and the  birth of a baby boy. This should have been a time of great joy.

Instead, a "palestinian terrorist" broke into their home and began stabbing.

By the time he was stopped, he had murdered grandfather, Yosef Salomon, 70; his daughter Chaya Salomon 46; and son Elad Salomon 36. Elad was the father of five young children. His wife managed to close herself and the children in a room and call for help. Yosef’s wife Tova, 68, was seriously wounded. What caused this unwarranted attack on peaceful, innocent people?

The terrorist claims it was for "Al Aqsa". This is nonsense! Let's examine the facts:

* One week ago armed terrorists exited the Temple Mount with weapons, and  murdered two young Druze police officers and wounded a third officer guarding the area.
* Israel then set up electronic metal detectors at all the entrances.
* The Mufti said all should refuse to enter and protest until the security was removed.
* All who went through the detectors were allowed to enter and pray.
* A video released by MEMRI TV had been posted on the Fatah Facebook page (see video below) shows Mahmood Abbas calling for protestors to "bare their chests" claiming "This is our Al Aqsa, This is our Church of the Holy Sepulcre" .
* Following calls for a "Day of Rage" rioting arabs around Jerusalem's old city threw rocks and molotov cocktails.

Whoever thinks throwing rocks is harmless, have a look at the slingshots they use and the size of the rocks. This is what David used to kill Goliath and what many use to this day to hunt. The rioters did not plan to "bruise the arms", rather, they were out to kill.

* As a result, during the riots three of the arab rioters were killed

The whole idea of objecting to security checks is hot air. All over Israel there are security checks in almost every building and store and everyone is checked. Jews and Christians go through security to reach the Western Wall.

Security Room in Mecca
A key point, as many in Israel have witnessed, these same Arabs who are screaming so wildly about metal detectors, have no problem going through those same security checks at the airport or most poignantly, at the offices of Israel's Bituach Leumi where they rush to collect their welfare cheques! The idea of protesting metal detectors is ridiculous hypocrisy~just have a look at the electronic security in Mecca! Why has there been no complaints about that?

They don't want security on Temple Mount entrances because then they cannot store weapons...simple!

And where is the world on this? Burning Israeli flags and condemning Israel because arab terrorists, who ambushed and murdered police officers, were killed themselves; then rioting arabs attempting more destruction saw three more killed. And of course, they will surely blame Israel because an arab terrorist slaughtered three family members at the Shabbat table.

Abbas Calling for Protests~

United States Ambassador to Israel David Friedman expressed his condolences for the victims of the Friday night stabbing attack on his Twitter account late Saturday night.

A terrorist broke into a home in the West Bank town of Halamish (Neveh Tzuf), murdering 70-year-old Yosef Salomon and his children Chaya (46) and Elad (36 years old and a father of five) on Friday night.

Halamish: I have no words to describe my sorrow for the victims or disgust for the terrorist act that killed a family at their Shabbat table .  Ambassador Friedman (@USAmbIsrael) July 22, 2017

The terrorist was eventually neutralized by a soldier who was in the area and heard the sounds emanating from the scene.

* Note
The terrorist was wounded, not killed
