Prime Minister Netanyahu's 2016 Holiday Greetings

Introducing "Joy Bear"
The Season of LIGHT

We at Jerusalem Vistas/Israel Vision and Still Small Voice send to YOU our dear frends worldwide our very best wishes for Christmas, Chanukah and all through 2017.

As you watch the message below, you may notice that our new "Rescue" pup and mascot is making an appearance. His name was Joya. Someone told us that it meant "Searcher" in Arabic.

Now that he has settled in, we have discovered that his favourite activities are sleeping next to the wood stove and getting hugs. As a result, the grandchildren have renamed him "Joy Bear"

Join us in the video below, as Meridel gives personal greetings to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at a reception held at the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem. She was able to mention that the lovely life size oil painting portraits of the presidents and prime ministers which hang in the entrance way to the cabinet room, were painted by renowned Canadian artist, Joy Caros Rawlings of Vancouver, BC, Canada and are a gift to the country. PM Netanyahu's response to  Meridel was the warm Israeli expression, "Kol Ha Kavod"~meaning in English "Congratulations"!

These are days of unprecedented attacks on Israel by the United Nations. They continue to castigate Israel with their lopsided resolutions with not even a single  mention of of the Russian backed genocide of women and children in Aleppo by Assad's regime propped up by Iran.  The Bible says, "Woe unto those who call good evil and evil good."  The Prime Minister clearly refers to this in his Christmas Message, at the end of the video. Please pray for him. Thanks.

We Know that the LIGHT Will Always Triumph Over Darkness.

In HIS love,
Jay and Meridel and Team

Israel~Land of Heros and Suicide Bombers

Motor Cycle Police (Picture: TAB)
Yesterday was a quiet morning. When I arrived at the tram stop I was alone. A few meters away I heard shouts and looked up to see the tram security guards challenging a young Arab man. He was behaving very aggressively, swinging an object of some type at the guard~trying to back him onto the rails.

Before I had registered what was happening the guard had him on the ground while others across the track were clearing the area. In a matter of minutes the rapid response motor cycle police and other security forces swarmed the are, the streets were cleared and taped off in each direction.

I did not realize it at the time, but the guards had contained and neutralized the attacker, while blocking any danger to the public with their own bodies until their colleagues could clear the area.

One guard knelt at the man's head to keep him from moving while the second pulled his clothing away~to insure there were no hidden weapons or explosive devices.
Terrorist Neutralized (Picture: TAB)

The streets in all directions were quickly cordoned off and security forces lined up to keep people at a safe distance. Shops along the street closed the doors and some lowered the metal treis.  Of course, because this is Israel, the majority of the people were trying to get closer to see what was happening!

What I (or the other onlookers) did not know at the time, was that there were several pipe bombs in the man's back pack. One of the guards who was first on the spot told our "crowd" he saw wires and suspected it was a bomb~describing it to the delight and awe of us all.

The local news has since reported that as well as the pipe bombs, there were knives in the bag and that a major attack was planned for the tram.

One of the first things to arrive (along with squads of police) was a truck carrying the "robot". This tiny tractor is sent in to exam suspicious packages to determine the next action. It is kind of like a giant robotic toy and people quite enjoyed seeing it deployed!
The Robot (Picture: TAB)

At the start of these types of situation many things happen in rapid succession. From the start, and well past the "all clear", there were forces lined at each end of the streets to keep the curious out of harm's way, answer questions and most importantly, watch for other dangerous persons that may be mingling in the crowd.

Guard
(Picture: TAB)
Of course, we had now been pushed back to the intersection and details of what was going on were difficult to see.

Local news has since reported that one of the guards, a Druze, had challenged the man in Arabic after noticing that he looked out of place (he was from the PA area in the West Bank). The guard spotted wires sticking out of the bag~and as a result of his quick actions a disaster was avoided. *When the local news spoke with him he had to cover his face to avoid being identified and targeted for retribution.
Dogs Arriving (Picture: TAB)
Next to arrive were the bomb-sniffing dogs~there were three, with tails wagging and ears alert. Around the same time a second, smaller robot was also deployed.

I was guessing that they were checking all the shops on the street to see if the Arab had planted any bombs prior to being apprehended.

Our security forces stepped up to the mark once again. Had the young Arab been able to enter the tram I do not want to think of the results.

Thanks to our brave men and women in Israel, we are blessed avoid the large scale slaughter that has been taken place in Europe and America. They know what to look for and do not hesitate to challenge anyone who they think is a danger.

Suddenly Jerusalem~Flashmob

Jay and Meridel's oldest son, David is married to a choreographer, Adi Gordon Rawlings. She creates and helps produce many programs for Israel, including this "Flash Mob" for the Ministry of Tourism.

The location is the "Old Train Station" which has been converted to a spot for everyone to come to. There are many restaurants, stores and even entertainment and rides for children. It has a classic "railway" atmosphere and even a small train going up and down giving rides to kids. The central section is often used for concerts, dances and other entertainments. All around are a multitude of small "carts" where local vendors sell their crafts and wares. If you are in Jerusalem, it is a fun place to visit.

Terror in The Holy Land~A Video by Jay & Meridel Rawlings

Here in Israel we actually "see" what is happening on a daily basis~not what the world press wants you to know. Reports online only cover more serious incidents. What the world at large is not aware of is that Jews and Christians are being targeted, for abuse and attacks on a daily basis to the point where many are now choosing to stay home behind locked doors and drawn blinds.

In the video below, Jay and Meridel Rawlings speak of the ongoing terror, and Meridel reminds us that Mahmoud Abbas also lays claim to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre!

They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more”...Psalm 83:4 (NIV)

Along with actual clips that are being shown multiple times by "Palestinian TV" you will see. that from Mahmoud Abbas to young children the spirit of hatred and incitement to "Murder" is out of control!

Please stand with us as we strive to report the news from a grassroots, Biblical perspective.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment, You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord...Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)

Jay and Meridel Rawlings Receive the ICEJ Nehemiah Award

Photo: Reynold Mainse
The Feast of Tabernacles begins this Sept 28th in Jerusalem. That night the 4th and last of the blood moons will be visible IN ISRAEL on this, the first night of the feast. What is the Almighty saying to the earth?

Christian Celebration of the
Feast of Tabernacles 2015
“And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. So they said, ‘Let us rise up and build.’ Then they set their hands to this good work”...Nehemiah 2:18
Nehemiah spearheaded the return of the Jewish people from the Babylonian exile to Israel, arriving in Jerusalem around 445 BCE. He not only displayed great courage and zeal but he was a determined leader and above all a man of God. The book named after him in the Bible records his accomplishments in rebuilding the fallen walls of Jerusalem and leading his people in spiritual renewal.

ICEJ has established the Nehemiah Award to annually honour outstanding biblical Christian Zionist figures at the Christian celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles each year.

This year’s Nehemiah Award is bestowed upon Drs. Jay and Meridel Rawlings in recognition of their lifetime record of excellence in promoting and defending Israel and in teaching the Word of God through a variety of media. John Victor (Jay) Rawlings has a PhD in Jewish-Christian Relations, while Meridel Rawlings holds a PhD in Psychology and Counselling.

In 1969, the Rawlings’ were drawn from their native Canada to Israel by a simple message: “If you love Me, love My people!” Their latest book, Love My People, is a historical memoir of their lives and launch into ministry in Israel. In obedience, the Rawlings set about producing documentaries telling Israel’s story, which over the past four decades have gained them a worldwide audience, from Jewish and Christian communities alike.

They produced Apples of Gold, an award-winning documentary on early Zionist history through the 1973 Yom Kippur War and into the 1980s, distributed even by Israel’s Foreign Ministry as an educational tool. The Rawlings’ laboured for twenty years to see the release of Soviet Jewry, producing the award-winning documentary Gates of Brass on the heroic refuseniks trapped behind the Iron Curtain who longed for Israel.

The Rawlings’ were involved in numerous television productions on Israel for the Trinity Broadcasting Network100 Huntley Street and the Miracle Channel in North America, and the EO Evangelical channel in Holland. In more recent years, they have produced programs for GOD-TV as well as for the Christian channels TV-7 in Finland, and Norge Visjon in Norway. Their programs have been dubbed into German for Bibel-TV, and into Chinese and Spanish for other outlets.

Jay and Meridel were among the core founders of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem in September 1980. Jay was the media coordinator for the founding of the ICEJ. His films were used far and wide by the ICEJ, especially in the early years. They have stood with the ministry ever since. Through various media tools, the Rawlings’ have sought to educate people on the importance of Israel in the light of current events and biblical history.

Meridel has also been working in the field of battling child trafficking and sexual abuse for the past thirty-five years, to teach and give counsel on this growing social ill. She has published books, documentaries and seminar workbooks on the topic, such as Honor Thy Father? Exposing the Secret World of Incest.

The unique contributions of Jay and Meridel Rawlings in educating and mobilizing Christians to stand with Israel have been enormous. For forty years now, they have pursued one overarching mission – to use the media to bring honour to the Word of God and to bless His people Israel today. The ICEJ greatly admires and commends their dedication and excellence in this work.

Based on their lifetime of achievements in inspiring Christians to stand with Israel, the ICEJ hereby honours Jay and Meridel Rawlings with the Nehemiah Award for 2015.

How Faith Has Carried the Jewish People

History has been a subject that Rabbi Berel Wein (25 March 1934~) has concentrated on for many years. He has stated that we must know where we have been in order to know where we are going. Jewish History is integral to our understanding of the current rise in anti-Semitism and the ongoing anti-Israel/anti-Western hatred. Knowledge is power, and Rabbi Wein believes that it will empower us with the tools to dispel lies and myths about the Jewish people and Israel. It is knowledge that allows us to stand against baseless Jewish hatred and attacks, and to raise public awareness about the accusations of Islamophobia that are currently permeating the press with the intent to make the perpetrators of terror appear as victims.

Rabbi Wein is well known for his books, CDs/DVDs, audio tapes and drama documentary film projects produced through the Destiny Foundation. He is the Rabbi of Beit Knesset Hanasi in Jerusalem and regularly travels back and forth to America to teach and lecture.

Rabbi Wein continues to teach, write and produce documentaries as well as a weekly parsha for the press. He is involved in many causes and shows no signs of slowing down. When he is in Jerusalem he can usually be found at Beit Knesset Hanasi on Shabbat where he gives a Torah teaching after the morning service.

"The past is directly connected to our present, and both the past and the present,
whether we understand it or not, will impact upon our future...Rabbi Berel Wein"

The video below is one in a series that follows the path of the Jewish people in the last century. It is the story of a people striving to find their place in the world, and should be watched by all.

Jerusalem Terror Attack~Again!

On 22 October 2014, we posted about the tragic death of three month old Chaya Zissel Braun in a terror attack. She was in her stroller. Her parents were returning from the Kotel when the terrorist with Hamas affiliations deliberately drove his car down the narrow passageway between the light rail stop and the tram itself. People had no escape. Baby Chaya's stroller was hit full on throwing her into the air. She died several hours later.

Once again, a Hamas affiliated Arab has mowed down innocent people. According to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the rampage began at the Shimon Hatsadik light rail stop outside of Sheikh Jarrah  at 12:30 pm:

The terrorist hit four people, killing a border police officer...He then drove 500 meters up the road to the intersection (where a separate terrorist attack took place over the summer), hitting 10 others.

The terrorist then fled the van and attempted to attack innocent men, women and children with a crow bar, but was shot and killed by a police officer. Fourteen victims were rushed to area hospitals for treatment.

Jidan Assad, 38, from the Druze village of Beit Jaan died in the attack. The world press has been reporting (once again) that Israeli police shot an "innocent palestinian" after a vehicle accident.

The video below shows the aftermath~Note that the "innocent" driver was driving on the tram tracks where only the trams travel.

As with baby Chaya, this was a deliberate murder. As is usual the world ignores the facts and concentrates on ways to vilify Israel. To say that Israel is to blame is "stuyot"~a loose translation for stupid. The PA and Hamas have waged a media campaign for years and the world has fallen for it. They smell success and the more Israel is blamed and pressured, the more frequent and vicious are the terror attacks. These are people who only understand fear and power. They are now increasing the terror because they truly believe that the world is going to help them destroy Israel.

If you think this is "not your problem"~Remember~as it goes for Israel, so will it go for the rest of the free world. It is past time to stop the politically correct pandering...

Arabs Do Not Want Peace!

Day after day in Jerusalem we witness Arab attacks on Jews. It is rarely reported in Israeli news and never reported by the world media. One description that has been floating around is "Silent Intifada". Perhaps it is not so silent if one is actually the victim of the attacks!

From the EU to the UN to various churches and student groups, Israel is the "evil" one who is making the problems for the "poor palestinians", and preventing "peace" in the middle east.

There is only one word for this~and it is not polite! Jews in many parts of Jerusalem cannot park their vehicles in front of their homes at night for fear they will be fire-bombed. In other neighbourhoods Jews risk being lynched for the simple act of walking down the street. Imagine how you would feel if it was not safe to leave your home without an armed guard or to be unable to allow your children to play outside!

What would you do if your house was constantly pelted with stones and fire-bombs? Do you know what it is like to wake up in the middle of the night because your home is on fire~caused by a molotov cocktail? In Israel, it is the Jews who experience all of these things.

Yes, we put bars on our windows, don't go out after dark and watch which street we turn down...but far too many are injured and the damage to property and people is huge. No area is safe.
Chaya Zissel

For Example:
Wednesday (22 October 2014), an Arab driver targeted Jews leaving the light rail in Jerusalem, crossing the tracks to slam directly into them with his car.

At least nine people were injured. As of this writing, one innocent soul, only three months old has died of her injuries.

Mangled Baby Stroller
Three month old Chayal Zissel Braun was in her stroller~her parents were returning from the Kotel (Western Wall) where they had gone to pray.

The stroller was struck and tiny Chaya was thrown a distance of ten meters. First responders managed to revive her and rushed her to the hospital where she was placed on a respirator. Sadly, Chaya Zissel died two short hours later.

Chaya's grandparents had just arrived in Israel to meet their new grandchild~a child that the parents had longed for years to have. The grandparents rushed to the hospital, and could only watch as the devastated parents lost their precious child. Later, at midnight, tiny Chaya Zissel was laid to rest.
So Tiny, So Innocent, So Precious...

The funeral was attended by hundreds~including the President of Israel, Reuven Rivlin, the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar and Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat.

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints...Psalm 116:15

According to the report in Arutz 7:

The Arab driver has now been confirmed (7:40 pm IST) to have been resident of the Shiloach/Silwan neighborhood and a member of Hamas~and to have served in Israeli prison before for terrorism...

Here is Security Footage of the Attack~The car comes from the left and crosses over the tracks to mow down civilians as they leave the train. This was no accident!

This was a young man with a history of attacks on Jews and a known affiliation with Hamas. For their part, Hamas is celebrating the death of an innocent baby~simply because she was a Jew! There is already a martyr  page~they are nothing if not prepared for death and lies. And of course, Hamas is now calling for more attacks of this type...

Are Arabs in Israel afraid after this attack? Are they prevented from moving about and doing whatever they pleased? NO! Arabs in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel walk freely without fear~anywhere they please, anytime they please. From the most religious street in Mea Shearim, to the most secular areas, Arabs in Israel know they face no danger.

Herein lies the problem. The media is silent, allowing the world to fall for the "great lie" in which the terrorists are called victims, while the victims are terrorized, attacked and villainized.

The video below was taken from inside a police check point in Jerusalem. The officer inside is rightfully concerned as he speaks to superiors on the phone. They tell him he is secure~he tells them the incident is being recorded. The Arabs have no fear and continuously attack, taunt and try to harm the soldier inside. The soldier can only record the actions on film. Next time you read about the "poor palestinians" remember this film...

Wake up people!! Today this is happening in Jerusalem~soon it will be in a neighbourhood near you!!

What Would You Do If You Had to Deal With This Every Day??

Mobs of Muslims Attack Jewish Children on Temple Mount

In Israel, religious Jews are now in a period known as "Counting the Omer". During this time there are various observances, including visiting the Kotel (Wailing Wall) each day, while some like to view Judaism's Holiest site, the Temple Mount.

Yesterday, a small group of Haredi fathers and children went up to the Temple Mount to see Judaism's holiest site. What happened next was frightening.

A baying mob of muslims began spitting, screaming alla-hu-akbar, and throwing obstacles at the children. You can see the terror and confusion of these young ones. Yes, the police came to escort them to safety and hold back the mob, but these children will be forever traumatized.

Did you hear of this on the news? Have any politicians (Israel or anywhere else) spoken against this? The silence is deafening. Even sadder is the fact that this happens again and again as a show of power and an attempt to remove Jews from the Land of Israel.

Jews have nothing but awe and respect for their holiest sites. The only thing they want, is the right to send their prayers to God. When Jews ascend to the mount it is with utmost preparation and respect for the holy ground.

When Muslims pray daily on the mount, they pray to their holiest site, Mecca. That means that their backsides face their "al aqsa" mosque. It is used as a playground for picnics and soccer. It is used as a rallying point for riots, but nobody is banning them for showing disrespect.

Lately the riots have increased in their manic ferocity. Unless something is done, it will not be long before a real disaster takes place. There is no respect for life in the minds of these people~hatred over rides all!

The world is changing and it is not towards good. Right is wrong and bad is good, morals don't exist
Take time to read history (preferably from a book), and you will see the startling similarities as people turn against Israel.

The hatred that is now being spewed has become dangerous and frightening. When people see nothing wrong with children being attacked we must examine our moral compass.

The trend towards "political correctness" and turning a blind eye to evil for the sake of "multiculturalism" is destroying freedom world wide. Once again, the majority, the decent people, either "join in" or convince themselves that "nothing is happening here~move along". Dear friends, something "is" happening and Good People must not stand by again while evil is allowed to prosper.

As we enter into another Sabbath weekend, Please keep Israel in your prayers...

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee...Psalm 122:6 (KJV)

Shalom Everyone and Hag Purim Sameach from the Rawlings!!

Meridel (Center) with Israeli Merry Makers!
Well, it's party time... !

Actually we are commanded to celebrate on this holiday of Purim also known as the Feast of Esther. It is always lots of fun in Israel. We dress up in crazy costumes, or Biblical ones, give charity to those in need, send gifts of food from house to house, celebrate our continual deliverance from evil and read the 'scroll' of Esther.

True to character, over the last three days, Hamas' terrorists in Gaza have lobbed over one hundred (100) rockets into southern Israeli centers of nearly one million citizens or 1/7th of our entire population! These neighbors fueled by "ancient hatreds" work to annihilate us. They are as determined today as they were in Queen Esther’s day. No one has been killed so far and we rejoice as instructed so long ago.

Just think, 2500 years ago, God chose a beautiful young Jewish woman, Esther, to save her own people all over the known world 127 nations states at the time. Calling her people and servants to pray and fast on nothing for 3 days the Lord began to work miracles. Her uncle Mordecai reminded her that "she had been brought to the kingdom for such a time as this."

She was to appeal to her husband, the King, with her petitions first. She uttered those famous words, "If I perish I perish!" Bravely she approached the King in his throne room and requested his presence at her banquet. It was during the meal that, she brought her case before him. Haman, the monster anti-Semite, was also present. Bravely she pleaded for Haman's letters of "death to the Jews" to be rescinded. The rest is history...we remember and celebrate our preservation as a people.

"And Mordecai wrote these things and sent letters to all the Jews"...Esther 9:20a

"...to establish among them as the days on, which the Jews had rest from their enemies,
as the month which was turned from sorrow to joy for them, and from mourning to a holiday;
that they should make them days of feasting and joy,
of sending presents to one another and gifts to the poor.
So the Jews accepted the custom"...v. 22, 23a.

"These days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation,
every family, every province, and every city,
that these days of Purim should not fail to be observed among the Jews,
and that the memory of them should not perish among their descendants"...v.28

So, please join us in celebrating the victory of our survival with a cup of tea, coffee or a glass of wine along with some "Haman's Ears" (triangle-shaped cookies filled with dates or chocolate).

The Lord Who Made Heaven and Earth Bless You out of Zion...Psalm 134

Dancing in Jerusalem (Yerushalayim)

For over two thousand years the Jewish people have dreamed of returning from exile to Jerusalem. When the state of Israel was born, Jews all over the world realized that their dreams and prayers were finally being answered and the aliyah (going up) began.

The video below is a joyful song telling of Jews from around the world making their return to Jerusalem. Verse one depicts the aliyah from Yemen, verse two tells of the Jews coming from Iraq and Morocco, while verse three describes the mass return from the former USSR and Ethiopia.

My heart is dancing in Jerusalem, Soon we'll be dancing in Jerusalem
The whole world dancing in Jerusalem, Your heart is dancing in Jerusalem
Time to come home to Jerusalem

"And to Jerusalem, Your city, may You return in compassion,
and may You rest within it, as You have spoken"

The above verse is taken from the daily prayers of the Jewish people, which contain numerous references to Jerusalem. This line is from the Amidah (Standing Prayer), which is recited three times on weekdays, and must be said facing towards Jerusalem. The full verse reads:

"And to Jerusalem, Your city, may You return in compassion, and may You rest within it, as You have spoke. May You rebuild it soon in our days as an eternal structure, and may You speedily establish the throne of King David within it. Blessed are You, Gd, the builder of Jerusalem...May our eyes behold Your return to Zion in compassion. Blessed are you Gd, who restores His presence to Zion".

James Lunney, MP~Interview From Mamilla Mall Jerusalem

This summer, Canadian MP, James D. Lunney traveled to Israel to meet with parliamentarians from around the world. Mr. Lunney is the current conservative Member of Parliament for the Nanaimo-Alberni riding on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The trip was organized to allow leaders to experience the "facts on the ground". In addition to meetings, they toured various areas in Israel, including Judea and Samaria, in their search for the truth on the current situation.

The various representatives were meeting in the Mamilla Mall to discuss their findings, not only of the conditions in Israel but of her surrounding neighbours and the turmoil currently going on.

For many years James Lunney has been a close friend of the Rawlings family. Jay was pleased to be able to have some time with James, to thank him for his assistance and support over the years and to ask some questions about the trip and possible ideas for the future. Do listen for a keen insight on Israel in the Middle East.

James Lunney, MP Speaks to Jay on Issues and Solutions for Israel
