Proof That Success Does Not Require Nudity and Vulgarity

Judges Do Not See the Artist
Over the years there has been a shift in what we know as entertainment. More and more performers have shunned the training and hard work required to develop talent and concentrate on becoming "overnight" sensations.

Now, the majority of "performers" make their claim to fame by stripping off, behaving outrageously and creating a spectacle. Reality TV has made those with no talent into "stars" who are paid unreasonable sums for doing absolutely nothing of value.

How can this be? Nudity, obscene gyrations and lewd behaviour~both on, and off the screen have created a culture of vulgarity. Children not yet in their teens are imitating singers who bare all and mimic an assortment of sexual acts. Anything goes~the more shocking the better!

How many aspiring performers compromise themselves for fame? How many "good kids" have been lost because they are convinced there is "only one way" to be successful? Where will it end?

Those of us who are believers and strive to maintain some sense of moral standards know this is not the way. Time and again we can see proof that real talent and hard work (and keeping your clothes on) can lead to success. The videos below are only two examples, and for those who care to look, there are many more. In these days where it seems as if the world has turned upside down, it is a relief to see that there is still some normalcy left.

The first clip is from The Voice~Italy. A young, energetic nun brings down the house with her performance. When you watch, do turn on the captions and listen to the judges comments. I think the men are totally taken aback, and one looks downright emotional. One of the judges asks Sister Cristina Scuccia what the Vatican thought of her appearing on the program. Without hesitating, the sister responds:

"He (the pope) always says we should go out and evangelize.
Telling of God doesn't take anything away from us, but will give us more. I am here for this"

Notice how the audience reacts~rather than being shunned for her faith, she is wildly cheered!

The second video many of you may have already seen, but it is so very inspiring. Two teens aged fifteen and sixteen, one very shy and introverted because of his appearance, sing their way to the finals with talent, hard work, and placing their friendship above possible advancement.

The world needs more good, honest people to step forward and take center stage. Whether it be music, acting, business or in everyday life, people need to speak out and be heard, so that the next generation will see that the real way to true success involves self-respect and hard work~not stripping off. We can't all be "stars" on center stage, but we can be successful in our daily lives and go from strength to strength by trusting in God's Word.

Child Prodigy~Musical Genius~Gifted by God (All of the Above!)

It happens all over the world, and when it does, we are amazed, and thrilled. What are we referring to? The amazing musical gift that God gives to very special children. Child prodigy, genius, and many other descriptions are used. We like to think of it as a gift, a blessing from our Lord and Creator.

Whatever your personal views are, this young girl is nothing short of amazing. Her "CV" is taken from  Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and the video below is from Intermezzo with Arik, a classical music program of the Israel Educational Television.

Do take the time to watch the video below. They begin in Hebrew with English Sub-Titles, but switch to English~Yes, she also speaks Hebrew!

Alma Elizabeth Deutscher (born 2005) is a composer, pianist and violinist who lives with her parents in Dorking, Surrey, England. Only eight years old, she has completed her first major composition, the opera The Sweeper of Dreams, which has been highly commended by the English National Opera.

Life and Work
Alma is the daughter of Janie (née Steen), an organ scholar, and Guy Deutscher, an Israeli-born linguist and amateur flautist. According to her father, she could name the notes on a piano when she was two. "For her third birthday I bought her a little violin as a toy," he explains. "She was so excited by it and tried playing on it for days on end, so we decided to try and find her a teacher. Within less than a year she was playing Handel sonatas."  At the age of six she composed her first sonata and in 2012, an opera, The Sweeper of Dreams. Alma explains: "The music comes to me when I’m relaxing. I go and sit down on a seat or lie down. I like thinking about fairies a lot, and princesses, and beautiful dresses."

Her short opera is based on the Neil Gaiman story "The Sweeper of Dreams". The text was adapted from The Calling by Elizabeth Adlington.  It was submitted to a contest run by the English National Opera but missed out on a place in the final.

Days Go By and Life Goes On...

Today, is not a particularly sunny day, but it is warm enough to go outside with just a sweater or light jacket.

The joys of working outside the city are manifold. There is peace, quiet, trees, birds and yes, even goats.

After the record snowfall, we received just a few short weeks ago, it was almost surprising to see the rich green of the plants and trees. Many, many trees and bushes were crushed and broken, but already they are beginning to regenerate and show signs of being even stronger than before. It is difficult to picture everything buried in snow!

Looking out the window of the office I saw a movement at the end of the property.

Upon closer investigation, it turned out to be a herd of goats, chewing their way along. There is a path that runs along the valley and it is not uncommon for herds of goats to slowly travel through. They seem to know exactly where they are going, even when the herder is nowhere to be seen.

A hawk circled lazily overhead, there were various birds singing and flitting from tree to tree~and of course~the goats!

In short, it is just a normal day, but one that reminds us of the Greatness of God and His Amazing Creation...
